In regard to crew, there will probably be around 17 on board at any one time. We will, however, be changing some of the crew in each port of call, so perhaps 30 will have the experience. The crew is international - Omani, Indian, Australian, American, Italian.
Life on board in general will be tough - no privacy, little shelter, a basic diet of dried fish, fresh fish when we can catch some, dates, rice, pulses, fresh fruit and vegetables (as long as they last after ports of call) tea, coffee.
One of the biggest dangers for an engine-less boat today - something no ninth century boat ever had to contend with - is huge modern ships. There is always the risk of collision, and the crew will have to be very vigilant.
